The BPE library had the privilege of hosting local shadow puppeteer, Matt Sandbank, on Tuesday, April 17th in honor of National Poetry Month. Matt has traveled all over the country performing his original shadow puppet plays, and he builds all of the puppets himself. The audience was enthralled by the complex tricks he achieved with simple lights, a homemade puppet theater, and pieces of plastic woven together with fishing line. Moreover, everyone spent the hour laughing out loud at the witty jokes he sprinkled throughout his performance of A Wild Goose Chase.
Overall, Matt was a huge hit with teachers and students alike! He has a number of different shows besides A Wild Goose Chase, so keep an eye out for him in the future! He can frequently be found at public libraries around Austin and has many performances scheduled this summer. A full calendar of his upcoming shows can be found on his website.
