In honor of Valentine's Day, all kindergarten, first, and second grade classes spent last week creating a variety of crafts. Kindergarteners made their own heart-themed animals inspired by the book My Heart is Like a Zoo. In first grade, students made monster finger puppets after reading Love Monster.
Lastly, we took a leap of faith in second grade and tried something entirely new. After reading OX, Ox, a silly book about an ox who writes love letters to a gazelle, students were tasked with designing their own valentines. They learned all about electricity and used this knowledge to construct paper circuit valentines. Even though the process was challenging at times, each student came out on the other side proud of all their hard work.
